Week in Sports: RBC Wrestlers Lead Team to First Win

Bulldogs take on Raiders in the first match-up of the season.

Game of the Week: Middletown South @ Freehold Township– Girls Basketball, Jan. 9

After a slow start seemingly doomed the Middletown South in their game against Freehold Township, the Eagles recovered from a 23-13 halftime deficit to rally and emerge victorious, giving the Patriots their first loss of the 2012 season.

In spite of Freehold’s “big three” of Lily Weinstein, Victoria Wagner and Michelle Johnston combining for 42 of the team’s 48 points, Middletown South came out on top thanks to a 16 point performance from Carissa Gray and a big contribution from Jill Falvey who scored 15 points of her own.

Upcoming Game to Watch: Toms River East @ Rumson-Fair Haven – Ice Hockey, Jan. 16

The Raiders of Toms River East travel to Rumson-Fair Haven on Jan. 16 to take on the Bulldogs. This game takes place just three days after the two teams meet for their first match-up of the season at East.

While East has struggled early on in 2012, Rumson-Fair Haven remains undefeated, boasting a 7-0 record. The Bulldogs have recorded 19 goals in their past three games and only time will tell if the Raiders can stop their high-powered offense.
