Navesink Maritime Heritage Association Public Meeting with Debbie Mans

The Navesink Maritime Heritage Association (NMHA) is pleased to announce that Debbie Mans, Baykeeper & Executive Director of NY/NJ Baykeeper, will be giving a presentation on Wednesday, February 22nd, 2012 at the Monmouth Beach Cultural Center, 128 Ocean Avenue  Monmouth Beach, NJ 07750-1231

The title of her presentation is Protecting, Preserving and Restoring the Hudson-Raritan Estuary. It will describe the mission of NY/NJ Baykeeper and highlight recent advocacy efforts to improve water quality by addressing pollution from combined sewer outfalls, and to increase access to the waterfront. Debbie will also give details on NY/NJ Baykeeper's latest efforts to return oysters to the Raritan Bay.

Doors open at 7:30 PM. Light refreshments will be served.
About NHMA – Navesink Maritime Heritage Association, founded in 1999, is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the knowledge and instilling an appreciation of New Jersey’s local maritime heritage through educational programs that teach wooden boatbuilding skills; preserving the maritime history of Monmouth County regional boat builders; and through experiential on-the-water education program of River Rangers for middle school children and Sea Scouts for youth age 14-21.

Since 1989, NY/NJ Baykeeper has worked to protect, preserve, and restore the environment of the most urban estuary on Earth for the benefit of its natural and human communities. Baykeeper is the only bi-state full-time advocate for the Hudson-Raritan Estuary and Harbor.

About Debbie Mans - Debbie Mans has been Baykeeper and Executive Director since April, 2008. Prior to joining NY/NJ Baykeeper, Debbie was the Environmental and Energy Policy Advisor for Governor Jon S. Corzine. She was also appointed by Governor Corzine to the New Jersey State Planning Commission. Prior to working for the Governor, Debbie was the Policy Director at Baykeeper, a position she held from 2002 through 2006. Debbie is a graduate of The University of Michigan and holds a J.D. from Vermont Law School. Debbie is on the board of New Jersey Future and the Chair of the New Jersey League of Conservation Voters.
