Four Places Nearby to Catch Fireworks

Celebrate July 4, 2012 with fireworks in Monmouth County

No KaBoom! Fireworks on the Navesink this year, but that doesn't mean you can't celebrate America's Independence Day with a bang.

Here are four places to catch a fireworks show:

  1. Tuesday, July 3:

Hazlet Township's impressive fireworks display will be held on Tuesday, July 3, for all to enjoy.  The raindate is Friday, July 6. The fireworks will be set off from Veteran's Memorial Park on Union Avenue, where there will be food vendors and music. That is not the only place to see the show, which kicks off around 9:20 p.m. Carloads of families pack up the bug spray and blankets and set off for prime viewing spots in the parking lots of Dearborn Market, Kohl's Shopping Center, Raritan High School, the Hazlet Swim Club and all along Middle Road.

  2. Tuesday, July 3:

Over 20,000 people will head to the Freehold Raceway for the annual Fourth of July Fireworks show and concert. This age old Freehold tradition was resurrected fifteen years ago by Downtown Freehold. This year the show is being presented by Coors Light. Admission is free. This year the concert features The Rock & Roll Chorus and Turnstyles with songs of Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, John Mellancamp, Steely Dan & more! Gates open at 5:30 p.m.

  3. Wednesday, July 4:

Oceanfest is a full day of free activities and events for the entire family. The festival, which is in its 21st year, runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. along the promenade between Seven Presidents Park and Pier Village and offers live children’s entertainment, live bands, crafters, vendors and food. The finale features a fireworks display that begins at 9 p.m.

  4. Sunday, July 8:

The Marlboro Recreation Department has announced the 2012 concert series and Independence Day celebration, taking place at the  Ampitheater. The concert will feature Bell Bottom Blues, Eric Clapton tribute band at 6:30 p.m. and The B Street Band, Bruce Springsteen tribute at 7:30 p.m.
