Events Coming up This Month at The Community YMCA Bayshore Family Success Center

The Community YMCA Bayshore Family Success Center is hosting several events during the month of January.  The events are free, and open to all residents in the Bayshore area.

  

Toddler Survival Series
Thursday, January 23 at 6 p.m.

Are you frustrated with dealing with your toddler? Need a few tips on how to better cope? The Bayshore Family Success Center invites parents of toddlers to join us on Thursday, January 23 at 6:00 p.m. for a presentation on surviving the terrible twos and threes!

Held at the Henry Hudson Activity Center, located at 945 State Highway 36 in Leonardo, topics will include typical behaviors, techniques for handling oppositional behaviors and other related topics. Registration is required by January 20 for this free event, which includes dinner and childcare.

Learn More About Substance Abuse
Thursday, January 23, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

The Bayshore Family Success Center will host a three part information session on Substance Abuse. The first session will be held on Thursday, January 23 at St. Mark’s Church in Keansburg and will address:

>         Signs and symptoms of abuse and addiction
>         The difference between abuse and addiction
>         The impact on the family
>         Available resources

The session will be facilitated by Dave Dolan, an advocate for long-term recovery with a specialty in substance abuse counseling. In recovery himself, Mr. Dolan has been featured in the Asbury Park Press and News 12 for his expertise on this subject.

Identity Theft – How to Protect Yourself
Thursday, January, 30, 7-9 p.m.

According to consumer.ftc.gov. over 16 million Americans have been victims of Identity Theft. Identity Theft occurs when someone steals your personal information and uses it without your permission. It is a serious crime that can wreak havoc with your finances, credit history and reputation and takes time, money and patience to correct it.

The Bayshore Family Success Center is hosting an information session on Identity Theft and How to Protect Yourself on Thursday, January 30.

Annmarie Howley, Director of the Monmouth County Department of Community Affairs is the speaker.

The session, held at the Henry Hudson Activity Center, located at 945 Route 36 in Leonardo, will provide you with valuable information on how to prevent identity theft and what you should do should you become a victim. The session begins at 7 p.m.
