A Splash of Spring

It is safe to say, on this last day of January, that most people in our area don't feel as if they were "jipped" this winter. We had more than our fair share of ice, snow, and the polar vortex. Even those of us who like the winter might say that our romance with all things polar has been chilled by the extreme cold.  And though I don't know whether or not the groundhog will see his/her shadow, it won't be too long before the Earth greets new blooms and the green grass mingles with tulips and daffodils.

With that in mind, when is a better time to spruce up your home for Spring? Starting now ensures that Spring decorating doesn't interfere with gardening duties. Or lawn mowing. Or any of those other chores that remind some of us why we love Winter!

All things considered, most of us do love the colors that come with Spring. While comfortable seating is essential in any room, adding a seating area to your bedroom creates a well designed look and feel! Add a loveseat to the foot of your bed in a fresh shade of sea foam. A great look whether you live by the shore or not. Don't have room for a love seat? White or cream linen chairs in each corner opposite your bed will do the trick.

Bring in the elements of nature that we all associate with the new season. Florals are a big trend this Spring, both in home décor and in fashion. Some Capodimonte flowers, a carved chair with fresh upholstery, or a painted chest of drawers are all inviting of the outdoors and can make a big impact all by themselves. Also, a coastal touch such as decorative seashells or a white washed dresser practically screams "beach weather". Sometimes all you need to do is pull out your own seashells and display them in pairs of milk glass dishes!
