Maple Cove Parking Hearing in Red Bank

What's going on in the Red Bank-Shrewsbury area this week.

Happy Monday, friends and fans!

Well, now we're heading directly into the New Year and we've been taking looks back at different news and feature aspects of the year.

With New Year's Day right in the middle of the week, there are a few reorganizations, New Year's Eve and Day events, but not much in the way of meetings.

Around the towns …

• It's a contentious issue. Red Bank's public hearing on the Green Acres application for the Maple Avenue and library parking lots is tonight at 6 p.m. Click here for more information.

• Red Bank's reorganization is slated for Wednesday, New Year's Day at 3 p.m. in the usual meeting room.

• If you'd like to start the New Year with a nature walk or tour, there's one of each on Sandy Hook on New Year's Day.

New Year's Day Beach Walk

Jan 01, 2014, 11 a.m. to  3 p.m.

Meet at Building 18, Fort Hancock. Which came first, the New Year’s Day hangover or the American Littoral Society walk? Which is the better way to start a new year?

Take a winter stroll on the beach and return to House 18 for hot cider/chocolate and hot dogs. Bring any holiday finger deserts that you wish to share.

• Check your favorite local restaurants for New Year's Eve and Day celebrations.
