Green Wave Washes Over Bucs, 13-0

The loss leaves Red Bank with a 4-6 record for the year.

Long Branch held on to the Ty Lewis Memorial Trophy on Thursday, beating Red Bank Regional 13-0 in the Buccaneers' final game of the season. The Green Wave scored its only touchdown on its first possession of the 89th game of one of the oldest high school football rivalries in the country. The game capped a roller coaster high school ride for the senior Buccaneers, who started with an undefeated freshman season, including a win over Long Branch. "We miss the seniors already," said coach Nick Giglio. "But they leave behind a level of preparation and play that our younger players have already learned and benefited from." Bucs Shut Out Colonials of Freehold, 21-0

The win brings the Bucanneer's record to 2-5 on the season.

Red Bank Regional's football team put all the parts together yesterday, shutting down Freehold Borough's offense and cruising to a 21-0 victory.      The win brings the Bucanneer's record to 2-5 on the season, and Coach Nick Giglio attributed the performance to his team's work ethic and communication. "Our team has a nice flow with one another this past month," he said. "We hope that flow will help us against a very good Barnegat team next week."     The Bucs struck early in the first quarter on a 34-yard keeper by senior quarterback Ross Gisondi. The kick for the extra point went wide, and the Bucs were up 6-0.     They struck again in the third quarter from the Colonials' 20-yard line, as senior Jahimere Hinton stormed the endzone. …
