POLL: Should Children Be Able To Use Facebook?

The social-networking site apparently is mulling over the idea.

Facebook is developing technology that would allow those under the age of 13 to access the site under parental supervision, a move that could help bring in a sea of new users for revenue but that could also increase privacy concerns, according to a report in Monday's Wall Street Journal. The technology being tested would allow children's accounts to be tied to their parents' accounts so that parents would decide whom their children could "friend." New kid-friendly features also could allow Facebook and its partners to bill parents for games and other entertainment accessed by their kids. Currently Facebook bars anyone under the age of 13. But several studies show that many kids use Facebook despite the ban, often with their parents' …

Thus you are doing the same thing here on The Patch, dont hate. Anywho, I have had nothing but good things happen with facebook. Is Bigger Better? The Good, the Bad and the Ugly Side of Having a Large Family

Having four kids is exhausting and overwhelming at times, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I was one of four children and I really think my parents made a big mistake having so many. My older brother was Asperger's/mildly autistic with ADHD and severe problems in school. I was #2 and really don't understand why my parents didn't just stop with me so they could focus on my brother's problems without additional distractions. I think my father was trying to get his "perfect son" which he …   more ›

Video: Kids Read to Dogs at Monmouth County Library

Popular program helps shy children by having them read to therapy dogs.

Monmouth County library headquarters in Manalapan has gone to the dogs. On Wednesday Jan. 19, therapy dogs Harley, Max, and Lulu came trotting into a library meeting room on leashes held by their volunteer handlers, tails wagging and ears perked up, ready to listen to local children read them stories. "Read to the Dogs" is a popular library program that originated out of the Howell branch two years ago and now takes place regularly at all branches of the Monmouth County library system.
