Red Bank, Shrewsbury Earn Clean Community Grants

The two towns were among several in the area to earn grant funding for litter abatement programs.

Red Bank and Shrewsbury were two of several District 11 towns to earn Clean Community Grant funding, the office of State Sen. Jennifer Beck, R-12, announced Monday. Red Bank was awarded $17,203.28 and Shrewsbury $6,216.29. The funding, intended for litter abatement programs, was furnished by the State Department of Environmental Protection. The New Jersey Clean Communities Council endeavors to change attitudes responsible for littering and the irresponsible handling of solid waste, according to a release. "We are proud of the efforts made by our constituent municipalities and applaud their efforts to keep their towns clean," Beck said in a statement. "A clean town is attractive to potential new residents and businesses."
