Red Bank RiverCenter and Flavour helped raise $16,000 to fund Red Bank Regional's goal to light up its football field.
Red Bank Regional is one step closer to turning on the lights at its athletic fields following a recent contribution from Red Bank's restaurants. At Wednesday's council meeting, Red Bank RiverCenter, the marketing arm of the borough's downtown businesses, presented the the RBR Athletic Foundation with a check for $16,000 to help fund the effort to light up the high school's fields. The funds were raised at recent a Red Bank food fest, International Flavour, a culinary event showcasing more than 25 local restaurants with food ranging from American to Thai, French to Italian and more. Red Bank's first ever International Flavour festival held Sunday was a hit, attracting thousands of visitors to the borough's downtown to enjoy a sampling of eats from far and wide, from Asia to Mexico, French to Italian, and even America. The festival is just the latest effort of the union between Red Bank RiverCenter and Flavour, a downtown restaurant alliance, to promote what may be the borough's great asset: its food. Red Bank Patch took the opportunity to talk to several businesses about the importance of showcases like International Flavour in promoting the borough and its businesses.
