Santa Claus Spreading Holiday Cheer in Shrewsbury

Jolly one visiting families from 3 to 6 p.m.

Shrewsbury will welcome Santa a bit early this year with Jolly Old Saint Nicholas' arrival today. Santa will make his annual visit to Shrewsbury familes from 3 to 6 p.m. Borough officials say he will take photos and visit with children and will deliver a small gift provided by local residents who contributed within the past several weeks. Holiday Toys En Route to Red Bank

Lieutenant governor helps deliver Toys for Tots donation

Holiday toys for children and families displaced by superstorm Sandy are on their way to Red Bank. Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno helped last week to unpack a cargo plane at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst that contained toys that were then loaded on trucks for Toys for Tots centers in Red Bank and Dover.  “For New Jersey families displaced from their homes due to damage or destruction by Hurricane Sandy, the expense of holiday presents may simply be out of reach,” Guadagno said. “Despite the devastation it brought to our state and citizens, Hurricane Sandy shouldn’t deprive any child from the magic and joy this season brings. Nominate Your Home as Best Decorated in Red Bank

Prizes awarded to first-, second- and third-place winners

Proud of your home's holiday display? Submit it to the borough for a chance at prizes and, of course, bragging rights. Councilwoman Juanita Lewis, the liaison to the Parks and Recreation Committee, urges residents to show off their holiday decorating efforts with the annual "Lighting Up Red Bank" contest. Judging will be on exterior decoration only with prizes awarded for first, second and third place. The first-place winner will receive a $75 gift certificate to Super Foodtown of Red Bank, $50 gift certificate to Teak restaurant and a $100 Prown's home improvement store gift card. Hundreds of Santas Planning Charitable Invasion of Asbury Saturday

"SantaCon" is one big town-wide party and charitable collection, dressed in red velvet and white fur.

Here comes Santa Claus. Approximatey 500 of them, organizers of the 2012 SantaCon in Asbury Park estimate, for city-wide fun and charity this Saturday. Which of these Santas is the real one? It might be hard to tell, but one of these Santas calls himself Swayze Claus, and he's one of the jolly old elves in charge around SantaCon. The mission of SantaCon? "This year, beautiful Asbury Park will come alive with red and white merriment as we gather to sing songs, play reindeer games, spread joy, and give to those less fortunate," said Swayze Claus.
