Pier Village Boardwalk Repairs to Begin Thursday
Repairs expected to take 21 days
Work to repair Pier Village's Hurricane Sandy-damaged boardwalk will begin Thursday, Jan. 17. A message on the city's website states that work will consist of; preparation of subgrade, grading, geotextile fabric, reinforced concrete slope protection, timber work, pavers, concrete work, repairs of the irrigation system, sand berm, landscaping, railings and other restoration work. Construction is expected to last about 21 days. The Long Branch Council recently awarded a $194,380 contract to K.B.D. Construction LLC for the work. The funds for the repairs are available in the city's Hurricane Sandy emergency appropriations, and the city is expected to be reimbursed by FEMA for cleanup costs such as this.
