Local bookstore and bistro, Frank Talk, celebrates Black History Month with a youth essay contest.
A local bookstore and bistro is celebrating Black History Month in an interesting way. Frank Talk, located on Shrewsbury Avenue in Red Bank, is hosting a children’s essay contest to promote awareness and education on the topic. The contest, entitled Never Forget: Remembering Malcolm X, poses the question: do you have the courage to be a leader? The essay must be between 250 and 500 words, and is open to all youth. Gilda Rogers, the owner of Frank Talk, provides some prompts to get children started. These questions include involvement in community service work, reactions to injustice, and innovative ideas to abolish hatred and violence in this country.
