The second annual event brought the Festival of Lights to the Four Corners of town.
Monday's menorah lighting at Shrewsbury's Borough Hall brought the Festival of Lights to the historic Four Corners and brightened a foggy night with candles, tradition and even a little magic. The second annual event, with plenty of cub scouts, borough officials and members of the Jewish community in attendance, focused on the lighting of the large menorah not far from the borough's Christmas tree, but also featured refreshments and a magician who delighted the children in attendance. Pamela and Jonathan Hemel of Shrewsbury organized the first event last year and enlisted the Chabad of the Shore for assistance. A list of upcoming holiday events in Shrewsbury.
Shrewsbury is celebrating the holiday season with several schedule events this year. This Saturday, Dec. 1, Shrewsbury is holding its Annual Christmas Tree Lighting at 4 p.m. at the borough hall gazebo on Sycamore Avenue. Festivities include light snacks and baked goods, caroling led by kindergarten and first grade students from Shrewsbury Boro School, a performance by the SBS choir, and a special visit from Kris Kringle. And, feel free to bring a small wrapped gift to donate to SBS's holiday toy drive. On Monday, Dec. 10, the borough returns for a celebration with its annual Menorah Lighting. Barney if I recall correctly there was a lay off at DPW cause people said their taxes were to high I am sure this is the result of less manpower I know the dept. has no where's near 20 employees   more ›
