A car hit a tree Thursday night near Swartzel Drive, off Tindall Road Thursday night around 11:30 p.m. The driver was the only occupant of the car, said Middletown First Aid & Rescue squad spokesman Bob Pfleger. The driver, a woman who was not identified, had to be extricated from the car by Middletown Township First Aid & Rescue Squad and Fairview First Aid Squad of Middletown, assisted by Belford Engine Fire Company and Belford Independent Fire Company. MONOC paramedics also responded. Update, 11 p.m.: Middletown Man Charged with Attempted Murder in Bed Bath & Beyond Stabbing --- A woman suffered significant blood loss after she was allegedly stabbed more than a dozen times in the back and other parts of her body by a man at Bed Bath & Beyond around 4 p.m. today. The woman's identity was not released, but she was said to be in her 30s and shopping inside the store with her small child when she was attacked. A car traveling in the Garden State Parkway southbound expresss lanes near mile marker 112 in Middletown went off the roadway, down an embankment, and crashed into a vehicle traveling along Middletown-Lincroft Road around 6 p.m. Wednesday night. State Police Sgt. Philip Stolfa said that the driver who left the Parkway was airlifted to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune with severe neck pain. The helicopter flew from the fields at Middletown South High School. "He is possibly going to be charged with DWI," said Stolfa, who said police suspected the driver was under the influence due to his behavior, and what they found in the car. Check again. Middletown police does patrol the parking lots at both high schools when the school are letting out. They enforce the new laws on the books about how many passengers are in the vehicle, speeding and any other laws they see being broken.
