Illness Prompts County Courthouse Cleanup

Set to reopen for regular business Monday morning.

After several employees in the Monmouth County Courthouse reported feeling ill on Friday the building will be cleaned over the weekend, the county announced at the end of the week. The employees reportedly experienced a variety of symptoms including shortness of breath, nausea, chest pain, heart palpitation, rash and dizziness. A total of 17 employees reported feeling ill will working on the first floor of the west wing according to a press release from the county.  Those who reported not feeling well received medical attention. Woman Indicted for Allegedly Forging Drug Scripts

A local resident was indicted on allegations she used a blank prescription pad to obtain drugs throughout the Two River area.

A Lincroft woman was indicted in Monmouth County Superior Court on charges that she forged blank prescription pages to illegally obtain drugs at several pharmacies throughout the Two River area, court documents reveal. Bernadette Prospero, 27, was indicted on 10 separate counts, including forgery, uttering a forged instrument, and obtaining a controlled and dangerous substance by fraud. Each count represents a third degree crime. According to the indictment, between Aug. 11 and Sept. 20, 2011, Prospero forged prescription blanks to purchase drugs at separate pharmacies in Red Bank, Middletown, Rumson, Little Silver, and Keansburg. Inspector Faces Bribery Charges

Man allegedly accepted bribe while working for soil conservation district

A man from the Manasquan Park section of Wall Township is facing charges in Monmouth County Superior Court after he allegedly accepted a bribe from an undercover officer while working in an official capacity for the Freehold Soil Conservation District. John Tonon, 51, of Lakewood Road, is charged in relation to an Oct. 26 incident in Hazlet in which authorities say he accepted $700 from an undercover officer of the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, to influence his work as a soil conservationist and inspector. According to a release from the Prosecutor's Office, the bribe was intended to expedite the permitting process for a recently built home. It would be foolish to believe that this "undercover" officer just happened to be there to become a foil in a bribe situation. There had to be complaints, reports, tips, etc. about this man's "Official Conduct" before he was caught.
