Crime Rate Drops in Red Bank

Monmouth County experiences overall decline, although incidents are up statewide

Overall crime in Red Bank declined in 2011 from 2010, according to data released with the state's 2011 Uniform Crime Report. The borough followed trends throughout Monmouth County in nearly every reportable crime statistic, although the drop was not uniform statewide. The state saw a 3 percent increase in overall crime from 2010 to 2011, with increases in murder, robbery and rape.  The 320 incidents of crime in Red Bank declined from 341 in 2010, the Crime Report shows. Violent crimes were nearly halved, with 55 in 2010 compared to 29 in 2011. However, Red Bank experienced a slight increase in nonviolent crime over the same period, with 286 in 2010 compared to 291 in 2011. The crime data, compiled and reported by the NJ State Police, …
