Reminder: Newman Springs Road Traffic Shift Begins Monday Night

A traffic shift will begin on Monday evening while construction on the Newman Spring Road bridge which connects Red Bank and Tinton Falls continues. The four-lane road will be reduced to two lanes, one westbound and one eastbound, a message on the Tinton Falls web site states. 'This will be a 24-hour lane shift and will last till the end of November 2013," the message states. "The project is being performed by the Monmouth County Engineers Office" The traffic shift will start after the evening rush hour, according to an e-mail from the county. Motorists should expect some traffic delays throughout the length of the construction project.  There will also be no access for pedestrians to cross the bridge.

Road Closure, Water Company Upgrades Could Affect Red Bank Traffic

After a pipe failure in June at the New Jersey American Water treatment plant, the company will be making repairs this week. On April 1, New Jersey American Water Company plans to install operational upgrades to its water delivery system at its Swimming River reservoir plant.  This will require the closure of Swimming River Road to traffic between Newman Springs Road (Route 520), just over the border of Red Bank, and Route 537 in Tinton Falls/Colts Neck. Due to the high volume of vehicular traffic on Swimming River Road, Monmouth County officials have required this work be scheduled between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., to minimize disruptions to the traveling public. New Jersey American Water Company anticipates work will be complete by April 5. …

Third 7-Eleven in Red Bank Proposed for Shell Station

Zoning board will hear testimony at special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday

Residents partial to 7-Eleven's Slurpees, packaged sandwiches and coffee varieties may one day have three options to choose from within Red Bank alone. The Zoning Board of Adjustment will continue hearing a proposal Thursday night that seeks to replace the existing market at the Shell station at the corner of Newman Springs Road and Shrewsbury Avenue with a 7-Eleven.  If ultimately successful, the 7-Eleven would join the existing outlet on Maple Avenue as well as the future store planned for the existing Welsh Farms on East Front Street. However, late-night munchies wouldn't be satisfied at all three stores. The Maple Avenue and proposed Shell station outlets would run 24/7 while the coming East Front market will be open only from 6 a.m. …
