Andrew O'Bodsky III, Longtime Red Bank Resident, Dies at 74

Services start today

Andrew J. O'Bosky III, 74, a longtime resident of Red Bank, died on Sunday, May 12, surrounded by family and friends, at Riverview Medical Center. An alumni of Red Bank Catholic High School, class of 1956, O'Bosky went on to get a bachelor of arts degree in Economics at Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA, and then an MBA in Finance from NYU, according to legacy.com. After serving three years in the U.S. Army, O'Bosky came home and became a vice president at Chase Manhattan Bank for nearly 40 years and retired in 2001, his obituary said.  Known as a community-minded person, O'Bosky was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Lee Morton Sr., Military Pilot, Star Cornell Athlete, Dies at 81

Morton passed away on May 9

After a long battle with cancer, Lee Eugene Morton, Sr., of Shrewsbury, died on May 9 at 81. A graduate of Cornell University's reknowned Hotel Administration program and a 1979 inductee of the university's Athletic Hall of Fame, Morton was known as a stand-out baseball and basketball player who co-captained a team that won the Eastern Intercollegiate Basketball League and the Ivy League basketball championships and was an MVP in basketball, according to legacy.com. Morton was also a third-round choice for the NBA draft in the 1950s. After college, Morton became a fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force  and was a member of the Air National Guard. Ferdinand 'Fred' Enrico, of Shrewsbury, Dies at 86

Enrico will be buried in Brooklyn

Shrewsbury resident and World War II veteran, Ferdinand "Fred" Dominick Enrico, died at 86 on May 8. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY in 1927, Enrico was a Navy veteran who served on the USS Sanctuary hospital ship during the war. Known as an avide fisherman, Enrico also had an affinity for horse racing, singing and boxing, according to legacy.com. He is predeceased by his wife, Margarita DeMeo Enrico, who he married in 1951. Enrico is survived by: his daughter, Margie; his son, Joe; and two grandchildren, Michael and Alyssa. He will be laid to rest at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY.

Marjorie Bramley, With Longtime Red Bank Ties, Dies at 93

Memorial service is on Saturday

Marjorie Bramley, a 1938 graduate of Red Bank High School with business roots in Red Bank, formerly of Fair Haven, passed away in Gorham, ME, on May 3 at 93. Marjorie was born to Harold and Bessie Mae MacConnell, of Atlantic Highlands, where she was raised. She then attended Burton Hall and Oakland Street schools in Red Bank and graduated from Red Bank High School in 1938, according to her obituary on legacy.com. Marjorie was predeceased by her first husband, William Evans, in 1950, and her second husband, Robert Bramley, in 1983, it said. A child of the Great Depression, Marjorie worked at Fort Monmouth during World War II. Mildred Becker, 93, of Fair Haven, who worked at Red Bank's Surray Luggage for nearly half a century, passed away Saturday, April 27, at Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation, Shrewsbury. Born in Red Bank, Mildred moved to Fair Haven in 1959. A graduate of the NJ Beauty Culture Academy, she was a member of the Fair Haven Senior Citizens group and the Congregation B'Nai Israel in Tinton Falls. After she graduated from beauty school, Mildred worked as a beautician for several years before working at Surray Luggage in Red Bank for more than 40 years, according to legacy.com. Sarah M. Nurney, 91, of Red Bank, passed away on Saturday, April 6. Sarah was born in Killyleagh, Ireland and moved to Kearny, NJ, as a young child. She earned a BSN from Fitkin Hospital, now Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, before switching her career to elementary education and teaching in the Belford and Harmony schools in Middletown from 1958 until retirement in 1983, according to legacy.com. Barbara Hessinger, of Red Bank, Descendant of Benjamin Franklin, Dies at 80

Barbara Bache Birt Hessinger, 80, of Red Bank, who was a direct descendant of Benjamin Franklin, died on March 26. Hessinger was born on July 16, 1932 in Columbus, Ohio and lived in West Caldwell for more than 50 years before moving to Red Bank in 2011 to be near family. Barbara was the eighth great granddaughter of Benjamin Franklin. After growing up in Ohio, earned a degree in psychology from the University of Dayton and worked as a social worker and mental health counselor. She married her husband Philip S. Hessinger in 1953 and leaves him behind. The couple would have celebrated their 60th anniversary this year. She died two days shy of it. Barbara and Philip were avid travelers. Born in Livorno, Italy, Meri married Lee Durland, immigrated to the United States and first settled in East Orange and West Caldwell before moving to Long Branch, where she lived out her life. She had many friends throughout Monmouth County and beyond. Meri, known for her dedication and love of family, friends and animals, was a woman of strong faith and a parishioner of Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Christ the King Parish, Long Branch. Alice Burt Weston Rounds, 103, died in her home at Navesink Harbor, Red Bank, on Monday, March 18. Rounds graduated with honors from William Smith College and taught high school English, French and Latin. She also as a school librarian. After marrying career U.S. Army officer Gifford Weston, the couple had two children: Helen Weston Bross and George L. Weston. The Westons were married for 43 years until Gifford's death. Alice then married Philip Rounds and welcomed his children from a prior marriage into the family: Sari Rounds Jeske and Robert Rounds. Robert Anthony Melita, 21, a 2009 graduate of Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School, passed away at his Fair Haven home on Dec. 27. The son of Charles and Beth Melita, Robert "had a zest for life and, for those who had the privilege of knowing him, he has left his footprint on their lives," his obituary on the Thompson Memorial Home Web site said. Robert, who also attended Brookdale Community College, was known for his work with Fair Haven children, specifically as an umpire with Little League Baseball.
