RBC Caseys Competing in Best Mascot Contest

Red Bank Catholic is one of five New Jersey schools listed in the USA Today contest.

Do you think the Red Bank Catholic (RBC) Caseys have the best mascot in New Jersey? Cast your vote in the USA Today best high school mascot contest to weigh in. RBC is one of five schools competing in the vote, which runs through March 5. Some 51 winners from will advance to a regional competition. Six regional winners will then take part in a national competition. You can cast your vote for RBC at the USA Today website.

RBC, Red Bank Regional Open For Presidents Day

RBC hosting blood drive

Red Bank Regional and Red Bank Catholic (RBC) will both be open today for Presidents Day. RBC will also be hosting a Blood Drive from 8:15 am to 2 p.m. Red Bank Regional Students were originally scheduled to have classes today, but the day was added back on because of the days lost to Hurricane Sandy.

School will be closed for Ash Wednesday

Red Bank Catholic High School will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 13, in observance of Ash Wednesday. Tuesday, Feb. 12, will also be a half day for seniors, according to the school's calendar.

RBC's Klecko Signs With Rutgers

Defensive lineman heads to Scarlet Knights after earning Defensive Player of the Year

Standout Red Bank Catholic defensive lineman Josh Klecko will take his football talents to Rutgers University in the fall. Klecko, a Colts Neck resident, is among the many highly rated prospects to choose the Scarlet Knights on National Signing Day. Klecko had a dominant season for the Casey's, posting 48 tackles and 8.5 sacks en route to being named the All-Shore Defensive Player of the Year. He helped lead RBC to a perfect 10-0 record and berth in the NJSIAA Non-Public Group 3 semifinal, where the Casey's were ousted by St. Joseph's Regional of Montvale. The defensive tackle, 6'2", 260 lbs, is the son of former All-Pro New York Jet Joe Klecko and the brother of Dan Klecko, a former Temple standout and NFL veteran.

MLB Outfielder and RBC Graduate Kalish to Miss Spring Training

Former Caseys standout requires surgery on his right shoulder

Former Red Bank Catholic standout Ryan Kalish will miss Major League Baseball spring training after requiring surgery on his right shoulder, ESPN.com reports. Kalish, a Shrewsbury native, has been beset by injuries since joining the Boston Red Sox organization after being drafted out of high school. The former pitcher and outfielder for the Caseys made the big leagues in 2010 but missed the 2011 season and much of 2012 with neck and shoulder injuries, ESPN.com reports. Kalish returned to Boston this past June but struggled and was shut down at the end of the season. Boston had hoped Kalish would compete for a left-field position in 2013, likely splitting time with Jonny Gomes. Kalish starred in baseball and football at Red Bank Catholic …

RBR to Retire Martin's Jersey Monday

Late student will be honored at season-opening boys basketball game against Red Bank Catholic

The Red Bank Regional High School community will honor the memory of late student Albert Martin at its season-opening basketball game Monday. Martin, who was a senior forward, will have his #34 jersey retired and presented to his mother, Tracy Dixon, at 6:30 p.m. Monday when RBR kicks off the season against Red Bank Catholic at the RBR gym, 101 Ridge Road, Little Silver. The Red Bank resident died at Riverview Medical Center Dec. 3 after collapsing during a basketball scrimmage against Point Pleasant Beach High School.  There's been an outpouring support at the school community for a student who senior Kadyjah Smith described as "such an amazing kid and so easy to love."  Contributions have been coming in to the Albert Martin Memorial Fund…

RBC Season Ends With Lopsided Loss to Top-Ranked St. Joe's of Montvale

Caseys lose 42-7 in NJSIAA Non-Public Group 3 semifinals Saturday in Montvale

Red Bank Catholic's dream season is over. Despite steamrolling Shore Conference competition en route to a 10-0 record, the Casey's are home without a berth in the NJSIAA Non-Public Group 3 final after being dominated Saturday by St. Joseph Regional of Montvale, 42-7. St. Joseph, the top-ranked team in New Jersey, held RBC to just 65 total yards and four first downs in the semifinal game played in Montvale, according to All Shore Media. The Caseys, who had averaged 38 points a game while building its previously undefeated record, had no answer for Joe's defensive front or its many offensive weapons, including junior running back and kicker Mark Fossati and quarterback Spencer Aukamp. From RBC to College Soccer Standout

Danielle Colaprio is competing in the NCAA Tournament for the Virginia Cavaliers.

Danielle Colaprico's introduction to her favorite sport left her in tears. "My first experience playing soccer was when I was five years old and my parents (Janet and James) entered me in a girls' recreational league in Old Bridge," Colaprico said. "I stepped on the field with my other teammates for the first match and wound up running off the field when the whistle sounded, crying to my parents, I told them that I didn't want to play." Now, when the former standout for Red Bank Catholic High School looks back, she's repeatedly grateful she didn't quit. Colaprico blossomed into the 2011 New Jersey Gatorade Girls' Player of the Year and she moved up to compete at the highest level of women's college soccer. Currently a sophomore midfielder…
