Changes Led to Oyster Fest Success, Record Crowds

The third annual Red Bank Guinness Oyster Festival attracted a record-setting crowd.

The final numbers have yet to be tallied. The beer tickets and wristbands are all stashed away in bins waiting to be counted. It will be a week, about, until they know for sure just how many people showed up to party in the White Street parking lot, but an educated guess from Red Bank RiverCenter puts attendance at the Red Bank Guinness Oyster Festival at as many as 15,000 people. The annual event, now three years down, has become one of downtown Red Bank’s signature events. Developed and organized by RiverCenter, the music, food and beer extravaganza has grown over the course of the past three years thanks to several minor improvements to an already winning formula. Guinness Oyster Fest Satisfies

The third annual event brought together food, music, beer, and thousands of eager visitors.

On a beautiful early fall day, thousands poured into the White Street parking lot to enjoy the live music, eats, and drinks of the third annual Red Bank Guinness Oyster Festival. Though an official tally isn't yet available, the huge crowds Sunday afternoon were the largest we've seen at the event, which has drawn upwards of 10,000 people during past years and has fast become a signature event for the borough. Organized by Red Bank RiverCenter, Oyster Fest included two stages, several varieties of draught beer, and eats from more than 20 of Red Bank's favorite restaurants. Check out the gallery above to see what went down at this year's Guinness Oyster Festival.

The price to value ratio is much better at the Oyster Fest plus you get music and a chance to rub elbows with your neighbors.   more ›

Today: Guinness Oyster Fest in White Street Lot

More than 15,000 expected for the Sept. 23rd annual music, food and beer extravaganza in the White Street parking lot.

The Guinness Oyster Festival is returning to Red Bank for the third straight year today on Sept. 23, with the promise of new music, more seafood options and expected crowds of as many as 15,000 people. The event was launched two years ago by Red Bank RiverCenter as a way to showcase area businesses and restaurants, and of course oysters, too. A throwback to historic festivals that annually celebrated the beginning of the oyster season, the Red Bank version was destined to become an annual event after it attracted an estimated crowd of 10,000 last year. Since it’s launch, the Oyster Festival has been a highlight on Red Bank’s calendar. “It’s very much looked forward to by many people here,” RiverCenter Executive Director Nancy Adams said. “…
