RBR, RBC Nominated for Basie Awards

The annual awards recognize Monmouth County high school talent

They're the Tony Awards of area high schools' way off-Broadway stars — The Basie Awards. And it's showtime for the list of this year's nominees. For the 2012-13 high school theater season, Red Bank Regional garnered several nominations for its musical production of Little Women and two for The Little Mermaid (see nominees in bold on list below) and Red Bank Catholic was nominated in a couple of categories for its Lucky Stiff production (see nominees in bold on list below). In the drama category, Red Bank Catholic garnered nominations for its production of Miss Firecracker Contest (see below). Intendend as a means for effective community outreach the Count Basie Theatre staff created the Basie Awards in 2006. This is its eighth year. The …

Red Bank - A sixth-inning collision — during a tie game when a Red Bank Regional High School player running from third base collided with the Rumson-Fair Haven catcher — cleared both benches and ended up with all brawling players possibly suspended from upcoming games and the arrest of a Rumson parent for alleged simple assault, according to APP.com. Sandy Hook - The roadways are rough in preparation for paving, the Sea Gulls' Nest Restaurant and beach stations are still closed, and the multi-use trail is under sand in a few parts. The team of students who brought the video lens to the dangerous drop off methods at Red Bank Regional High School are back — this time turning their camera on the school's lunch service. Red Bank Regional Gets High Marks on New School Performance Reports

RBR rated as a high performance school in academic achievement and college and career readiness.

Red Bank Regional (RBR) outperformed a majority of high schools in the state and in its peer group, according to data released by the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) last week. The state's new performance reports, which replaces the school report cards issued in past years, rates districts on standardized test results, college and career readiness and graduation rates.  The performance report compares looks at a school's ranking compared to the rest of the state and to a peer group with a similar demographic. RBR's peer group included Matawan Regional High School, Brick Township High School and Old Bridge High School. RBR outperformed 64 percent of the state and 81 percent of its peer group on academic achievement, which takes …
