A Red Bank man is being held in jail as he awaits his first court appearance on drug charges. Christopher L. Ballard, 27, of Catherine Street was arrested Jan. 10 in Tinton Falls after police said he was found with a large quantity of heroin. Ballard was in possession of 263 glassine bags of heroin and 21 clonazepam (a prescription sedative) pills, according to complaints filed with Superior Court. He was charged with knowingly or purposely manufacturing, distributing or dispensing heroin, two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and possession with intent to distribute. Ballard is being held on $50,000 bail, no 10 percent option. He is due to answer the charges Jan. 15. State criminal records show Ballard previously …

A Red Bank man was among a trio of locals recently arrested after Tinton Falls police said they burglarized and stole more than $2,000 from two Shrewsbury Avenue businesses during the power outage caused by Hurricane Sandy. Juan Escalante, 26, of Red Bank, Darryl Lainge, 26, of Eatontown, and Markies Wells, 27, of Ocean Township broke into the two businesses, one of which was the Dunkin' Donuts at 596 Shrewsbury Avenue, on Oct. 31, police said. Tinton Falls Police Lt. David Scrivanic said a subsequent police investigation led to the arrest of the three men, and they were charged with burglary and theft. Car reportedly fled after being stopped by police
Two occupants of a car that was involved in a high-speed chase with the Tinton Falls police late Wednesday night are dead after a crash in the borough. Monmouth County First Assistant Prosecutor Richard Incremona said two Tinton Falls police officers stopped a 2008 Subaru Impreza with three male occupants on Shafto Road around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night. When one of the officers approached the vehicle, he spotted a .380 semi-automatic handgun in the car, the assistant prosecutor said. Incremona said the officer grabbed the gun and immediately alerted the other officer about the gun. Police have arrested a 19-year-old and charged him with murder
The Tinton Falls Police and Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office have arrested a suspect who allegedly stabbed and killed a teenager at a Tinton Falls hotel early Saturday morning. Monmouth County First Assistant Prosecutor Richard Incremona said the Tinton Falls Police were called to the Comfort Inn at 3 Centre Plaza at 1:15 a.m. after receiving a 911 call. Incremona said police found a male victim in the parking lot and immediately started CPR. The man, later identified as Malcolm T. Carter, 19, of Neptune, died shortly after CPR was administered.
