Three closed shops will reopen as new places to get coffee, burgers and gourmet take-out
The signs of some new places to grab a bite and a beverage are sprouting up along River Road in Fair Haven, signaling a new start for some old mainstay spots. La Fandy has been empty for some time, and Patch has just received word that the popular Kind Burgers, a victim of Hurricane Sandy in Sea Bright, will take the spot. Rumson owners Yvette and Anthony Cafaro are thrilled to have found the place to relocate and rebuild their specialty burger business, after seeing the building they leased all washed away to Sandy. The popular Monmouth Beach coffee roaster expects to open for business in March.
Fear not, coffee lovers. The beloved Java Stop in Fair Haven may be gone, but the aroma of freshly roasted beans is headed your way. Booskerdoo Coffee Co., the cofffee shop and roaster located in Monmouth Beach, will open its second location this spring in the former Java Stop spot on River Road. "It's a beautiful spot," said Booskerdoo owner James Caverly. "Fair Haven is such a great town, and I'm excited to be a part of it." Caverly is also looking forward to the high traffic location. Tucked away off Beach Road, he calls his Monmouth Beach store "a little gem off the beaten path." The new cafe, which will be retail only, should be a "wallop," Caverly said. Harvey The Crossing Guard Keeps Fair Haven's Most Trafficked Corner Safe For All.
It's about this time of year that I really start to miss seeing Harvey Tilton's smiling face standing, greeting, and waving kids to safety at the intersection of Fair Haven and River Roads. I stopped in to talk to Harvey and got a glimpse of all that goes into his day. And it's much more than just crossing children safely - which would be more than enough! I think Harvey sums up his approach to work in life in one simple sentence in the video. When you hear it, you'll know. It's the reason he's great at what he does, the reason he's a fixture of the neighborhood, and of our lives. Thanks, Harvey!
