Shrewsbury is celebrating the holiday season with several schedule events this year. This Saturday, Dec. 1, Shrewsbury is holding its Annual Christmas Tree Lighting at 4 p.m. at the borough hall gazebo on Sycamore Avenue. Festivities include light snacks and baked goods, caroling led by kindergarten and first grade students from Shrewsbury Boro School, a performance by the SBS choir, and a special visit from Kris Kringle. And, feel free to bring a small wrapped gift to donate to SBS's holiday toy drive. On Monday, Dec. 10, the borough returns for a celebration with its annual Menorah Lighting. I don't understand why they have a tiny Christmas tree in front of a restaurant on a side street (don't blink or you'll miss it!) when we have TWO parks right on the river that we could have it in. Isn't it time to have a proper Christmas tree in a place that better represents the town and that people can see and enjoy?   more ›
