Wall — The former assistant superintendent of Wall Township Schools was indicted Monday morning on charges she failed to immediately report a possible sexual assault of a 4-year-old special needs student by a teacher and then lied to police and tried to cover up her inaction, according to the indictment. This week's crime includes a little of everything, topped here by two of the top unreported stories of the week: A Neptune man was indicted by a grand jury Friday on charges he sexually abused a mentally handicapped woman. Christopher Johnson, 38, is charged with one count of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, stemming from an incident in February, 2012. The indictment says Johnson knew or should have known that the victim, identified only by initials, was physically or mentally unable to give consent. * * * * * A Manasquan man was indicted last week on charges he assaulted a police officer and several other offenses. He left without a restaurant. People who are without a permanent residence, or at risk of becoming homeless, are invited to participate in Monmouth County’s 2013 Project Homeless Connect event at three locations on Wednesday, Jan. 30. A team of volunteers and county staff will be in Asbury Park, Freehold and Red Bank to meet with people and encourage them to seek county services and resources. Those who participate will be asked to provide information and will be offered food, clothing and various services, including free health screenings and employment services. A Red Bank resident was among many throughout Monmouth County to be appointed to regional advisory boards and commissions during Monmouth County's annual reorganization meeting last Thursday at Biotechology High School in Freehold Township. Gary DeFelice of Red Bank was appointed to a three-year term on the Agriculture Development Board. The full list of citizen appointments made by the Board of Chosen Freeholders is as follows:
