ReplyAdd more shopping? The Home Depot Mall is just about 90 percent vacant and you cant get in and out of there without possible accidents (even after our new design to the highway which is a joke too) And look at the new condos on Monmouth rd in West Long Branch...and that is small too. this whole entire area is over congested, and over built already. Lets remember a strip mall is going up in Oceanport next to one that is almost vacant except for 3 stores maybe?? Lets save this land for our future generation and make something out of this that all can be proud of. (which will never happen but its a nice thought)

ReplyThis is a commercial zone... how can they even consider overturning this? This should be made retail space/restaurants of some kind. Allowing this would change the whole demeanor of this area whether, it should not be made a house of worship of any kind, privatized so no one from the area can enjoy it? There is a whole bank of stores/buildings that I am sure there is someone out there that can turn this area around to benefit all residents/visitors and benefit the city and taxpayers too.. Keep it zoned commercial save the integrity of West End..

ReplyI agree with Kathy A i also beleive that they are just looking to fail west end so there is nowhere else to go but pier village..which is an undersized monstrosity in its-self. I dont even want to think about what would happen if there was ever any kind of emergency in pier village u cant even drive thru there let alone get out if need be. back to west end, it should be revitalized back to its original splendor where it it is quiet..relaxing and beautiful in its original state to allow this building to go up will totally change it, locals will have nowhere to go anymore and once again we will lose that area too. In my opinion I would rather see the bldg remain vacant...

ReplyThe repairs are being made to Pier Village and be reimbursed by FEMA?? Homeowners are not even getting money for their homes to make them livable, and we are supposed to be excited about Long Branch Boardwalksbeing repaired so residents can be homeless but watch bennies walk around without a care in the world?? What a F#%^&d up system.... They should reaapropriate the money for home owners and worry about boardwalks lastly

ReplyA carousel?? what about something to attract the local people? All this is going to do is add more traffic to our already OVERCROWDED streets and bring in more people who could care less about this area what we have there now is already a disaster to us locals!

On the article Developer Plans To Build Affordable Housing Units on Wall Street in West Long Branch

ReplyIts not even so much the low income housing per say (i dont think the avalon has too many of them i think its just a reason for more money of some sort) but this small town is already over loaded with people and traffic...like m had said our speed limits are surpassed by a lot and all the roads are just thru ways to get somewhere else, adding more housing into the mix is crazy plus the over crowding of the schools. i hope someone thinks this thru before it gets approved :\

ReplyI have raised my kids in this town and very glad I did, but the small time community feel is long gone sadly. Like Michelle said money talks and our town is becoming uncared for and the pride is diminishing and now sadly instead of making for the better we are just going to add more people who could care less for our schools, streets etc..
