A Halloween Parade with Pooches

The parade is set for Sunday.

Red Bank Mayor Pat Menna calls it the first costumed canine contingent.

The borough's annual Halloween parade is coming back to the borough on Sunday; and, for the first time in the more than half-a-century-old event, pets will be poised for marching orders. Yes, for the first time, all are invited to bring their pooches to prance in costume.

Parade-goers, as usual, will line up at the corner of East Bergen Place and South Street at 1 p.m. and travel down Broad Street at 2 p.m.

The parade will end with a party in the White Street parking lot. And pooches and humans will all be eligible for prizes as well.

There are Best Costume, Best Pet Costume and Best Float categories in which all who march are automatically entered and eligible.

Rain date is Oct. 27.

For more information and/or to register a float, contact Red Bank Parks and Recreation at mcrystian@redbanknj.org.
